Focus:FOCUS: Opportunities for all QSS Students through a Commitment to Student Achievement, 21'st Century Learning, and a Focus on a Safe and Caring School Environment!

Quinte Secondary School welcomes you! Perhaps you have heard of the many new, innovative, and engaging programs that we have established to engage students and to prepare them for "Their future... Now!" We celebrate our students successes in Citizenship, Academics, Athletics and the Arts in a highly inclusive learning environment.

A school focussing on success for all students in a caring and safe learning environment

Quinte Secondary School is proud of the achievements of our students. In June 2011 we celebrated:

  • 150 Students on the Honour Roll with an average of 80% or higher
  • 217 Graduates
  • 90 Junior Award Recipients
  • High levels of student achievement in all pathways
  • Student leadership is a priority at QSS. We now have a double credit student leadership program and the Link Crew program to support all students, and in particular to mentor each incoming grade 9 student. QSS student leaders have planned, organized and implemented an astounding number of events to support our school and our community such as: the Rick Hansen Start of the Day Event, the Thursday Night Lights Quinte Classic Football Game which attracted hundreds of current and past Saints to "the hill," and countless events to raise money for charities.
  • The implementation of 21'st Century Learning is an essential component to education. Our students are tuned in to technology and we are too! We are continuing to add SMARTboards to our existing exceptional computer based resources. Students are blogging, using IPODS and cell phones as learning tools, and accessing Moodle as an online, resource to supplement their classroom learning. They are learning in self directed ways, and monitoring their own learning skills and work habits. Learning is changing and we are working hard to meet the needs of our 21'st Century Learners.
  • Character Education is a key component which is integrated both within and out of the classroom. As a part of the greater community, we are committed to responsible citizenship. This past Christmas for example, our students and staff supplied Christmas food baskets to 25 families in the community, because we care.
  • QSS rocked the sports scene last spring and this fall, capturing the Junior Girl's Central Ontario Secondary School Rugby Championships for the third consecutive year, sending a record number of athletes to All Ontario for both Track and Field, and Cross Country Championships, and finishing strongly in the rankings in numerous sports. We continue to offer a full range of individual and team sports at both the junior and senior levels, and are pleased to bring back Junior Boy's Soccer to our fields this coming Fall.
  • New and innovative programming and facilities are now established to support increased Student Achievement.
  • Here are some examples which may spark your interest:

    • A new Specialized High Skills Major Program (SHSM) in Manufacturing Technology, and the continuation of the SHSM Program in Construction, both accredited by the Ministry of Education and implemented in a partnership with local business and industry. A key partner as well is Loyalist College. The Dual Credit program involves our house-building students actually attending the College while in high school to reach ahead and earn credit towards their trade. Our in-house Manufacturing program involves team teaching with a QSS and a Loyalist teacher working with our students in the shop here at QSS.
    • A unique Medical Technologies program with specialized Health Care courses in the senior grades preparing our students for post-secondary programs.
    • A focus program engaging students in the establishment and maintenance of a school store with a focus on Retail Management and Small Business experience.
    • An innovative Ice Skating/Dance Course taught by a SkateCanada qualified teacher, again the only such program in the district.
    • Five state of the art Science Labs; a commercial and residential Foods program facility; two beautiful Art rooms; and a total of seven full computer labs making computer technology readily accessible to all students and all programs.
    • A caring and active School Council which welcomes parents to become involved as partners in their child's education at Quinte.

Quinte Secondary School has been a house hold name in Belleville for many, many years. Our alumni stand proud and actively support our school. Our community partners provide meaningful opportunities for our students and staff. The combination of a strong history of excellence, of offering innovative and effective programming to all students, and our continued commitment to improving our school, make Quinte Secondary School the place to be! We are a proud and committed staff and we want to take this opportunity to welcome each new Saint as you enter Quinte S. S. and to welcome back our existing Saints.
