Quinte Secondary School is on the move! Perhaps you have heard of the many new, innovative and engaging programs that we have established. You may have read about the incredible successes achieved by our students through academic accomplishments and through the diversity of extracurricular activities in Athletics, the Arts, and Student Leadership to name a few. Quinte has recently received provincial recognition for our successful efforts to increase the literacy and numeracy skills of our students. Our staff is committed to our students. Our aim is to provide each Quinte Saint with a host of engaging programs and activities, in a safe and caring environment, with a focus on student achievement.

A school on the move!

• Quinte Secondary School is honoured to have been recognized by the Education, Quality and Accountability Office as “A School on the Learning Journey”, focussing on increased student achievement. As one of six schools highlighted in the Province of Ontario, we are proud of this accomplishment.
• Mr. Andew Dickson, Teacher in the Canadian and World Studies department was awarded “An Associate Teacher of the Year” by Queen’s University, a high honour bestowed on a very few number of associate teachers last year.
• QSS rocked the sports scene this fall, capturing the Junior Girl’s Bay of Quinte and Central Ontario Secondary School Rugby Championships, and sending numerous athletes to All Ontario competitions in Golf, and Cross Country. Our Junior Boy’s Football and Junior Girls Basketball were both Central Ontario Finalists.
• Quinte Secondary School Students achieved outstanding results on district and provincial assessments of Mathematics and Business over the past school year.
• A new Students’ Council structure has recently been formed to increase student leadership and student voice within our school. The structure includes student leadership opportunities for all grades and all pathways, and is an exciting new addition to the positive culture of QSS. We continue our focus on Character Education.
• New and innovative programming and facilities are now established to support increased Student Achievement.
  Here are some examples which may spark your interest:
  • A Specialist High Skills Major Program in Construction acredited by the Ministry of Education and implemented in a partnership with local business and industry.
  • A unique Medical Technologies program with specialized Health Care courses in the senior grades preparing our students for post-secondary programs.
  • A focus program engaging students in the establishment and maintenance of a school store with a focus on Retail Management and Small Business experience.
  • A high performance athlete package from grades 9 - 12 including a new course in Sports Marketing and numerous choices through our Healthy Active Living program.
  • An innovative Ice Skating/Dance Course taught by a SkateCanada qualified teacher.
  • Five new state of the art Science Labs; a new commercial and residential Foods program facility; two new Art rooms; and a total of seven full computer labs making computer technology readily accessible to all students and all programs.
  • A caring and active School Council which welcomes parents to become involved as partners in their child’s education at Quinte.

Quinte Secondary School has been a house hold name in Belleville for many, many years. Our alumni stand proud and actively support our school. Our community partners provide meaningful opportunities for our students and staff. The combination of a strong history of excellence, of offering innovative and effective programming to all students, and our continued commitment to improving our school, make Quinte Secondary School the place to be!
